Over the past nine years, Tracey has specialized in historical and institutional research. Most recently, she was an adjunct professor in the Humanities Department of Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts, teaching Latin American, African-American, and Atlantic world history. She served previously as a research consultant and lecturer for Historic Newton, the city’s historical museum, assisting in the update and re-launch of the institution’s main exhibit. At the U.S. Government Accountability Office in Boston, she investigated the contracting procedures of the Department of Homeland Security, co-authoring a report of recommendations to improve the agency’s methods. Tracey also analyzed US foreign policy toward Latin America and human rights abuses while working for the Foreign Affairs Committee at the US House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. Her doctoral dissertation focused on Caribbean history of the early 20th century. She has spent several years abroad, living in Cuba, Jamaica, England, and Bolivia while undertaking her scholarly research.
