Senior Luis Hernandez writes about his experience interning at Santander City in Madrid during Summer 2014.
Having the opportunity to work for the financial city of Santander Bank in Madrid, Spain has provided me with a once in a life time experience that allowed me to grow in ways I never deemed possible. Throughout my internship with Santander, I had multiple instances to collaborate with people from all over the world. This experience truly helped me to refine my skills and gain insightful, new knowledge pertaining to the global environment, while at the same time challenging and improving my Spanish and English skills. Additionally, I found out how crucial communication in the workplace is when dealing with certain delegates from countries such as Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Germany and Great Britain. Throughout the duration of this internship, the constructive criticism paired with the positive feedback I received from my managers boosted my self-confidence. Today, I recognized I am more than capable of carrying out certain workplace processes. I also learned that with the right attitude and work ethic, hard work will pay off.
